I came across this amazing post by Cindy at Cottage Instincts.
Did you see it?
It was a fabulous post about finding your style... why you are drawn to certain things, etc.
She showed how she went through decorating books and made her fabulous notes...
Anyway- I was so inspired by her post that when I woke up this morning...
I
I headed out.
Off to the library I went.
In search of all the decorating books I could carry... (or find in our little library)
Isn't she pretty?
So, I found some decorating books...
and my warm blanket...
I got these too...
Oops... how did that little bottle get in there?
...probably to help me get through these wonderful easy to read, helpful books.
Seriously, if you missed her post about blogging... go read it! I learned a LOT
...and made some new friends in the process!
Don't judge.
I haven't read it yet...
...and I LOVE 90210
And... apperantly, she dishes on some of the cast.
So, yes... blanket, book and glass of wine for me tonight!
Okay...
Go check out those two blogs I mentioned.
And...
...a New Year's Resolution...
I need to STOP putting salt on my French Fries from Wendy's....
Why do I do that?
They put those little salt packets in the bag.
...then I just can't help myself.
UGH!

You are such a cutie Amy! You make me laugh, and I'm flattered you mentioned my blog today. Also glad I inspired you to raid your library *snicker*.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy new year, and I'll be watching to see what you do with your house in the coming months :)
Aw man. Will you be my sister?!?
ReplyDeleteCindy's post made me want to go run out and get some books too. But then I'd want to keep them and tear out all the pages and stuff. Sigh..
LOL on the blogging for dummies!!! You rock.
Thanks for the shoutout! It's my utmost privilege to be spoken about on your blog. :)
Donna
Sounds like my New Year's Eve!! I have been in bed all day (I have a cold so that is my excuse) I have been reading and watching movies all day!! What a life!! I did take a shower and put on fresh jammies but that is the most work I have done all day.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Loving your cute blog!
Amy you are hilarious. Do you know how many times I have picked up blogging for dummies at the bookstore? I guess I need to get it huh?
ReplyDeleteI now need to go read the cottage instincts post..I just ordered 4 books off of amazon on decorating:
The Find: The Housing works of Decorating
Thrifty Chic: Interior style on a shoestring
New Farmhouse Style
and the new Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic book..
woo hoo - good reading in the winter.
Happy New Year.

What a great way to spend the evening, I'm going to have to check out the blogs you mentioned. Love love love your library, so pretty!! Love your blog too!! Happy New Year!

You are such a hoot! I still haven't found my decorating style. It's very eclectic and colorful and when I see all those shabby blogs in shades of cream, I want to ban color from my life. But living in Kuwait, a country that has no color, I guess that is why i surround myself with color at home. Have fun perusing all the books and staying warm with the blanket (and the wine). Happiest and healthiest of new years to you and yours! Tammy
ReplyDeleteI love to sit and pour over decorating books and magazines. Now that is my way to spend the day! And I would never judge you on your choice of reading material. Last year at this time you would have found me reading Maureen McCormick's autobiography of her life as Marcia Brady! But let's just keep that between us. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother great post!
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the library - I just buy the books. I am with Donna - I tear out the pages I like, I dog-ear the corners, put in markers, highlight stuff - the library would be very upset with me. And I go back and read them over and over again - same thing with the magazines. I have now thrown a magazine away in 5 years...
Have a great day!
Danielle
Oohh, have fun with your books and let us know what you learn!! Blogging for Dummies... I need that!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Amy!
P.S. The Twilight books are soo good - you'll be hooked once you start! Way better than the movies, although I don't care to admit how many times I have watched Twilight ;)
Funny post. Wow, when the weather hits a balmy 16 degrees it's time to get out of the house! I loved Cindy's post about finding your style. So practical. Also, the 90210 book made me laugh. I would "sneak watch" that show when my parents weren't home. It's seemed so risque when I was a teenager.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered a bunch of home decor books & joined a book club - I'm dying to get my first order! I just love to flip through the ones I already own on the weekends to inspire me!
ReplyDeleteI too love Tori Spelling & Wendy's fries & salt is the best. It's finer salt or something - I totally get your obsession with it!! I once got an entire bag of frozen Wendy's fries & their salt as a gift in college - I know I'm crazy right!
Hopped over from Melaine's blog....I want to read that Tori book, too! I grew up with 90210! Sounds like you have the perfect day planned! :) Happy 2010!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! I wanted to thank you for stopping by my place and leaving a nice comment and becoming a follower. I can't wait to check out more of your blog.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post. Thanks for the reference to other blogs. I'll have to really check them out when I have more time. Definitely interested in this topic. I still can't figure out what I style I want to live with, and I've been "making my home" for over 20 years now! Your post may have helped get me on the right track.
Thanks again, and Happy New Year!
Carla
Wow I feel so silly saying this but I never thought of going to the Library to find decorating books! I'm totally going to do that asap!
ReplyDeleteI think I have that home design book and I got Apartment Therapy's Real Homes for Christmas. I was so excited! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing. I went to the library yesterday afternoon and checked out fifteen decorating books after reading her blog. I could hardly carry them all and my kids thought it was hilarious as I walked through the door with all those many books.
ReplyDeleteHaven't had a chance to really start looking through them yet. I have big (lazy) plans for tomorrow that include the books, my big comfy chair and the fireplace.
you are so right about donna @ funky junk!!! many of her blogging posts have helped me out. and let's face it, I need all the help i can get. i am going over to the other blog you mentioned to check her post out.
ReplyDeleteit's cold here too. books, a blanket, & a glass or two, three sounds good to me!
So, I just have to ask. How was the book?
