I Do Taxes. AUGH!

Hello!
Sorry I haven't been out there stalking you...
I do taxes for a living.
STOP!
No reason to be jealous.

A pic from the garden last summer.

Anyhoo...
a few of you have sent me messages
asking if I'm still out here.
I am.
Well, I'm not here.
I'm stuck behind a desk.

I've been saying this is my last year to do taxes.
...for the past 3 years.

I have nothing to share...
I've accomplished nothing in my house...
unless you can count one load of laundry and...
nope, thats it.
Nothing else has been done by me.
Thank goodness for Hubs.
He fed me and put me in bed tonight.
For real.
Told me I looked tired.
Polite way of telling me I look like pooh.
Hmm...
It was nice to be tucked in.

I'll leave you with
the most important tax advice I can give you...

ALWAYS sit down and talk to your tax specialist.

You would be amazed at all the deductions/credits, etc. people are missing
out on.  Shame on all the tax preparers that sit behind a closed door.
They are doing a huge disservice to their clients.

I'll be back in blogland soon.
Miss you,
~Amy

  1. Miss you too! Come back soon, k? :)

And thanks for that advice. I have a bookeeper AND an accountant. I never sit with the year end guy. Maybe I will after your post.

  3. Totally get it - I work for "the State" - in a part of the "that State" that issuses W-2's! It is amazing the number of people that call up at the EOY and say somthing like "my W-2 is wrong" (and of course it's not) or (and I like this one) "Y'ALL didn't take out enough taxes and now I owe." What-Wait-What? Did you just hear yourself?
People don't take enough interest in that type of thing until about Dec 15 or so - in my opinion.

Keep your chin up - April 15 will be here before you know it!

  4. Me too! Taxes, that is. I am just the "inputter", but I go to tax school every year along with the preparers. You are sooooooo right. There are so many things people don't realize. The only thing good about tax season is that is sure makes winter fly by.

  5. oh goodness! I don't do taxes, but I work for an accounting agricultural software company. I basically do accounting support for people & it's amazing the things I hear & the people that are responsible for doing books for others - blows my mind! I feel for you woman!

  11. We have no need to go to a tax specialist. In fact, we took our taxes in to H&R block after my husband had done them, so that they could e-file it for us, and the specialist looked it over and was surprised that my husband had not missed a thing! In fact, she even told him that he should consider taking some classes to become a tax specialist himself! He really doesn't miss a thing. I'm sure the government just loves having to give us a huge refund every year!! Ha ha. :)

  12. I so need you. I dread tax time...I think I need someone to just do my "books" every month. Seems like it would be sooooo much easier come the end of the year. ~mary~
